Petition to Waive Student Health Insurance
Students who have insurance with comparable coverage may waive student health insurance by submitting an annual petition by the term deadline.
When
You must submit your petition in the first term of enrollment and every fall term after that. Students returning after a leave of absence must submit the waiver request in the term when they return.
Term Deadlines
Last day to waive health insurance:
- Deadline for Fall 2024 term: September 30, 2024
- Deadline for Spring 2025 term: January 31, 2025
How to Waive
To submit your petition, visit MyCC Health Insurance.
This petition grants permission for the insurance provider to audit your insurance information. If your petition is falsified, inactive or non-comparable to Massachusetts criteria, you'll be enrolled in the insurance plan and charged the total premium.
Students who do not submit an annual waiver request by the deadline are automatically enrolled and charged for the school's plan. Coverage is based on a plan year beginning September 1st and ending August 31st. Once enrolled, students are covered for the remainder of the plan year.
Cost of Student Health Insurance
The cost of insurance, including a $50/year health insurance administrative fee, is:
Annual Students | Newly Eligible Spring Students | |
---|---|---|
Coverage Dates | September 1, 2024 - August 31, 2025 | January 1, 2025 - August 31, 2025 |
Undergraduate Cost | $2,596 | $1,745 |
Graduate Cost | $4,473 | $2,998 |
Waiver Deadline | September 30, 2024 | January 31, 2025 |
Cambridge College aims to be cost-effective and sensitive to today's economic conditions, but unfortunately, due to the current trend in health insurance mandates and plan usage; the increases are necessary to remain compliant with health care reform mandates. The recent increases and the total cost of health insurance at Cambridge College remain competitive with our peer institutions.
Insurance Optional
Students taking fewer credits or attending Cambridge College locations outside Massachusetts are not required to purchase student health insurance. Still, they are welcome to contact the Office of the Bursar.
International Students
Any international student with an active SEVIS will be assessed for health insurance regardless of the number of credits. They can waive (see above) provided they can produce the necessary insurance documents as indicated for all students.
