Online Master of Science in Accounting Overview

The Master of Science in Accounting (MACC) is a 10-course, 30-credit online accounting degree designed to provide students with a robust foundation of academic study in accounting. This program can be completed in as little as 14 months. When combined with a 120-credit undergraduate accounting program, the MACC program meets the 150-credit requirement for licensure in many states. The MACC program is a professional master’s degree designed to provide a mature understanding of accepted practices in the field of accounting. Our advanced industry-specific credits, coupled with the appropriate undergraduate coursework, help students become more knowledgeable accountants.

The MACC is structured to maximize your success on accounting certification exams through accounting theory and coverage of advanced accounting topics.

Online Accounting Degree Highlights

The MACC is offered in a 100% asynchronous online format, with a strong focus on engaging students in a dynamic and interactive learning format. Courses are five weeks long, with eight sessions per year. The program is designed for students to take one course per five-week session.

After completing this degree, you will be equipped to:

  • Utilize advanced accounting concepts in financial statement preparation and conduct analysis of financial statement data
  • Interpret financial statements and disclosure notes using GAAP and GAAS and make strategic and integrative decisions

Prospective graduate degree students for online programs offered through Cambridge College Global must satisfy the following requirements plus any program-specific requirements your program may have.

  1. Complete and sign the online application.
  2. Pay the application fee. Pay your $50 ($100 for international students) application fee by the term start date.
  3. Send official transcripts. Maildirectly to Cambridge College in a sealed, unopened envelope. Learn How to Send Transcripts. Required degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities.
    • Master's and most graduate certificate programs require an earned bachelor's degree.
    • Post-master's certificates and CAGS require an earned master's degree.
    • International transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved agency. See all international student requirements
  4. Send your résumé and work experience. Send your resume that details your education and work experience, including how they pertain to your career goals. Four years of work experience is required for fully online Cambridge College Global graduate programs.
  5. Submit your personal statement. Write a 250-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing your professional experience, goals and objectives for graduate study. How do you expect your graduate studies to enhance your future career?
  6. Complete an interview. You’ll have an interview with Admissions, generally by phone.

Program-Specific Admission Requirements

The Master of Science in Accounting is designed for students with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from a regionally accredited school. Students with a bachelor's in business will be required to take prerequisites in the undergraduate program to prepare themselves for the intense theory, skills, and application-based curriculum.

CPA Exam

Students wishing to become eligible to take the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Exam should understand the requirements of the State Board of Accountancy in their respective state or jurisdiction. Cambridge College offers courses in this program based on the overarching requirements of the United States. However, it is the responsibility of the student to verify actual course needs in the state they wish to be certified.

CMA Exam

Students wishing to take the Certified Management Accountants exam should refer to the requirements of the Institute of Management Accountants. Students who enter the program with the CMA credential may be eligible for a course waiver.
