Start Your FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a document for current and prospective college students in the U.S. to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.

Overview of the Financial Aid Process

The U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid explains how completing the FAFSA gives you access to grants, loans and work-study funds.

The Financial Aid Process

  1. Create Your Federal Student Aid ID

The FSA ID has replaced the former PIN. If you have a Federal Student Aid PIN, you can enter it and link it to your new FSA ID.

  1. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form

Note: If you receive any assistance not listed on your offer (such as a scholarship from an outside organization), you must notify us of this additional resource.

  1. Complete Entrance Counseling

All new students must complete entrance loan counseling before loans are awarded. This is a federal requirement, even if you borrowed from other schools.

  1. Sign the Master Promissory Note for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan

For assistance, call Direct Loan Applicant Services at 800-557-7394.

Financial Aid Verification

Any student, chosen either by the federal government or the Financial Aid Office, may undergo verification. This process enables financial aid counselors to cross-check the information from your FAFSA with the documents you supplied for accuracy.

Awarding Policies

You will receive a financial aid offer for the academic year.

Accepting your award: No formal acceptance is required; it's assumed you accept the full package unless you notify us otherwise. Pay attention to the award letter for important steps.

Declining your award: Email your financial aid counselor from your Cambridge College email to decline any part of your award.

Reduction in Enrollment

Reducing your course load may result in a reduction or cancellation of your aid.
