Federal Verification Selection
The U.S. Department of Education will randomly select students to verify specific items from the FAFSA application. Cambridge College may also select students for verification. If selected, you'll be notified via email or mail on the Student Aid Report (SAR) after completing your FAFSA.
Selected students must complete federal verification to receive the following:
- Pell Grants and FSEOG Grants
- State grants and scholarships
- College work-study opportunities
Verification Documents
If you've been selected for federal verification, you'll find the required documents on your MyCC under the Finance tab.
More About the Process
- The required verification documents will be posted on your financial aid account on MyCC as missing requirements. You'll also be notified by mail or Cambridge College email.
- If you were not required to provide parent information on your FAFSA, you are an independent student and must verify the items regarding yourself (and your spouse).
- If you were required to provide parent information on your FAFSA, you are considered a dependent student and will verify the items regarding your and your parents' information.
- Only submit income tax information or other verification data if the Financial Aid Office requests.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Verification Process
What if I fail to supply the verification documentation?
Students who do not submit federal verification requirements by the semester deadline will have the Financial Aid Office make their financial aid application inactive.
You then must make alternate payment arrangements with Cambridge College’s Student Accounts Office.
Note: Continuing undergraduate students will only receive financial assistance once verification is complete.
What happens after I submit my requirements?
Once the Financial Aid Office receives your verification requirements, we cross-check them with your FAFSA information. Any updates to your FAFSA are made accordingly, potentially affecting your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and subsequent financial aid award.
Additionally, we must report these revisions as corrections to your FAFSA.
Note: Please refrain from making further adjustments while verification is underway.
