The Master of Science in Finance degree is designed to provide a comprehensive, contemporary perspective on financial theory and practice. Compared to an MBA, this online Master’s in Finance offers an exclusive focus on financial models, financial markets, and investment strategies.

Online Master’s in Finance Program Highlights

This accelerated, graduate-level online business degree program requires 10 courses and can be completed within 15 months of continuous enrollment.  

MSF students will be able to make sound managerial financial decisions by:

  • Analyzing financial data and market research information to conduct analyses for sound investment decisions and portfolio management
  • Utilizing financial concepts and analytical tools to make financial decisions in managerial finance and investment management
  • Devising effective financial plans and risk management strategies
  • Applying theoretical constructs and quantitative tools to devise financial models to address corporate finance challenges
  • Evaluating issues in financial ethics and compliance to support ethical practices
  • Strategizing and proposing comprehensive financial plans and investment policies to maximize shareholders’ value in the current global environment

As a final deliverable, all MSF students will construct a comprehensive financial analysis and investment analysis report on par with those found in the financial press.

Cambridge College accepts many industry-standard certifications for college credit. You could receive credit for your professional certifications, saving you both time and money.

Prospective graduate degree students for online programs offered through Cambridge College Global must satisfy the following requirements plus any program-specific requirements your program may have.

  1. Complete and sign the online application.
  2. Pay the application fee. Pay your $50 ($100 for international students) application fee by the term start date.
  3. Send official transcripts. Maildirectly to Cambridge College in a sealed, unopened envelope. Learn How to Send Transcripts. Required degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities.
    • Master's and most graduate certificate programs require an earned bachelor's degree.
    • Post-master's certificates and CAGS require an earned master's degree.
    • International transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved agency. See all international student requirements
  4. Send your résumé and work experience. Send your resume that details your education and work experience, including how they pertain to your career goals. Four years of work experience is required for fully online Cambridge College Global graduate programs.
  5. Submit your personal statement. Write a 250-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing your professional experience, goals and objectives for graduate study. How do you expect your graduate studies to enhance your future career?
  6. Complete an interview. You’ll have an interview with Admissions, generally by phone.

Program-Specific Admission Requirements

While an undergraduate degree is required for admission into the Master’s in Finance online program, it does not have to be a degree in business.

The online Master of Science in Finance is designed for those who want to shift their career path into finance, and those currently employed in finance and want to deepen their knowledge in this field. The course curriculum and the knowledge and skills acquired while obtaining the MSF degree offer excellent preparation to pursue entry or advancement in the financial services industry.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the yearly median salary for financial analysts is $96,220, and is expected to grow 8% from 2022 to 2032, faster than average for all occupations.* The path is also bright for financial managers, a role with an annual median pay of $139,790 and projected growth of 16% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.**
