Background
Dr. Carlos Javier Cañuelas Pereira is the director of the Student Center for Counseling and Psychology (CECSi) of the Medical Sciences Campus (RCM) of the University of Puerto Rico. Since 2008 has been teaching at Cambridge College Puerto Rico. He is a graduate of the Río Piedras Campus of the UPR both for his bachelor's degree in psychology and for his master's and doctoral degrees in Orientation and Counseling. He has more than 20 years of experience as a counseling professional mainly with graduate and undergraduate university students. He has been a lecturer at conventions of Professional Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatry, government agencies and universities. In addition, he had his own counseling radio program at Radio Universidad de Puerto Rico. He is the creator and maintainer of the RCM portals called "Pregúntame" (translation "Ask Me"), "Student Center for Counseling and Psychology (CECSi)" and two Facebook pages for counseling. He has been interviewed several times on television, radio and in newspapers. Doctor Cañuelas belongs to the Puerto Rican Association of Professional Counseling, the American Counseling Association, the Association for University and College Counseling Centers Directors, the Puerto Rican Association of University Professors and was for several years a professor of reviews (Psychology section) for the MCAT exam for admission to medical schools.
