Background
Professor José M. Plaza Sánchez has a doctorate in Education with a specialty in curriculum and teaching with a specialty in mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus; a master's degree in Educational Arts with a specialty in secondary mathematics teaching from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico Metropolitan Campus; and a bachelor's degree in Educational Arts with a specialty in secondary mathematics teaching from University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. Additionally, he has academic and professional certifications in areas such as Curriculum Specialist (Mathematics), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Certified Educator, Construction of Virtual Learning Environments, Online Educator and Virtual Course Creation, Assessment of student learning, Teacher with a specialty in Secondary Mathematics, Supervisor Teacher, and in Advertising Art and Design, among others.
He has more than a decade of experience in offering courses at the graduate, undergraduate, secondary, and intermediate levels in the areas of Education, mathematics, and technology at institutions such as the University of Puerto Rico, Cambridge College, Ana G. Méndez University and Department of Education of Puerto Rico. In addition, he has experience coordinating academic projects and developing and offering mathematics courses at different levels, as well as mentoring and supervising teachers in training and teaching peers. At the same time, he is a consultant in developing and presenting activities, workshops, seminars, and advice for the professional development of teachers and non-teachers in curriculum and teaching, mathematics, and technology, among others.
