Background

The professional relationship at Cambridge College of Maria S. Mangual started about 19 years ago. She was assigned to teach in the Master of Education in Health because Counseling was not an offering in CCPR. When the College decided to start Counseling she asked to be changed to that faculty. Since then, she has been a professor at CCPR. At the same time, she worked as a school counselor in Humacao, PR. for eleven years. The experience gained in those years allowed me to start a private practice as a College Advisor. She has a lot of stories of how the students achieve their dreams with the help of the counseling received.

Academically, she is a professor, in love with the counseling process, and always tries to offer the students ideas to motivate them to learn and love what she teaches and what they decide to become. One of the things that impressed her was the Counseling faculty knowledge and experience they have. They are always ready to offer their knowledge to the students supported by their interest in teaching. This allows me to coordinate the work with them because of their availability.

Outside the classroom, Maria possesses numerous good qualities, which I believe are very important. Those are: respect for herself, her siblings, her friends, and the school community; service and compassion for people of special needs, and her students; and love for her family, her school, and her country. Her long career as a professor has given her a lot of experiences she can bring to any academic environment even in the administration area.
