Background

Sol Enid Leon is a woman with a passion for education at all levels and leading educational systems to excellence in education. With this in mind, she became a physics teacher and has been in the profession for seventeen years. She was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2005 and won the Amgen Science for Four Award in 2006. She holds current teaching certificates in the following areas: Elementary Science, General Science, Biology, Environmental Science, and Technology. She continued her studies and completed a master's degree in science curriculum, a master's degree in school administration, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. In addition, She is certified by the Complutense University of Madrid as a specialist in gender equity and government and by the University of Puerto Rico Bayamon Campus as an Educational Coach. During her career in the field of education, she has held the position of Science Teacher Facilitator, Federal Funds Coordinator, Elementary School Principal, Middle School Principal, and Science and Mathematics Specialized School Principal. Moreover, she was part of the pioneering group that designed and delivered online courses in the Department of Education using Blackboard as a platform at first and then migrating to Moodle. During her seven-year tenure as an administrator at the Villalba Residential Center for Educational Opportunities (CROEV), she elevated it to the number one high school in Puerto Rico.

In the academic graduate area, she has worked as a University Professor since 2002, first in the Graduate Program at the Interamerican University Ponce Campus and the in the Doctoral Program at the Pontifical Catholic University Ponce Campus at Cambridge College Puerto Rico Campus. In these universities, there have been hundreds of master's and doctoral theses in which she has participated as a member and as President of the committees. She also participated in the external evaluation of the curriculum renewal of the Puerto Rico Aviation Maintenance Institute (PRAMI) at the request of the Office of Registration and Licensing of Postsecondary Institutions.
