How to Apply

Both undergraduate and graduate international students must complete the following steps.

  1. Choose your program of study. Use our interactive Program Finder tool.
  2. Complete the online application and pay the $100 application fee. Note: Prospective students applying for a bachelor's or master's program must be admitted to Cambridge College before requesting an I-20. Review Application Deadlines in the Academic Calendar
  3. Complete the Application Supplement for F1 International Students.
  4. Submit your personal statement. Compose a 250-500-word essay describing why you want to study at Cambridge College and why you think Cambridge College is the right fit for you.
  5. Submit a letter of reference. This can come from a professor or employer and should speak to your qualities as a person, professional or student.
  6. Submit an official transcript from your last degree conferred.
    • Note: If a school outside the U.S. conferred your last degree, you must also submit an official, certified English translation if the document needs to be in English and an official transcript evaluation completed by a nationally recognized agency.
  7. Provide proof of English language proficiency. Students for whom English is not the first language should see their options on the International Students Application Supplement.
  8. Complete your I-20 Application, if applicable.This includes:

Additional Requirements for Master’s Degree Students

All prospective graduate (master's degree) students must satisfy the previous requirements and these additional requirements:

  1. Submit a second letter of reference. This can come from a professor or employer and should speak to your qualities as a person, professional or student.
  2. Send your résumé. Communicate your education and work experience — and how they pertain to your career goals. Two years of relevant work experience is recommended.

Requirements for Students Receiving I-20 From Cambridge College

All international students who want to receive an I-20 from Cambridge College must also submit:

  • A photocopy of your current passport
  • A photocopy of your visa (if you are in the U.S. currently)
  • A photocopy of pages 1 and 2 of your I-20 (if you are in the U.S. in F1 status)
  • Demonstration of financial capability of at least $29,000; see page 4 of the International Students Application Supplement

Requirements After Acceptance

  1. Take the Accuplacer placement test.
    • The results of this test do not affect your acceptance. It tells us which classes are best for you to take in your first term.
  2. Meet your Academic Advisor to discuss which classes you'll take in your first term.
  3. Get your student ID card.
  4. Register for classes.
  5. Attend Academic Orientation.
  6. Attend New International Student Check-in and Registration.
  7. Start your classes!
  8. Maintain F1 status by enrolling full-time.
    • F1 non-immigrant undergraduate students must register at least 12 credits for their first term of study and every fall and spring term.
    • F1 non-immigrant graduate students must register at least 8 credits for their first term of study and every fall and spring term.
    • Students may reduce course load for academic reasons in the first term of study, with a valid medical excuse or in the last term before graduation.

Get a travel authorization signature prior to traveling outside the U.S.

  • You are required to have a PDSO or DSO's signature on page 3 of your I-20 prior to returning to the U.S. in F1 status from overseas. Each signature is valid for 12 months.
  • If you travel outside the U.S. and re-enter without a travel signature, you are required to file form I-515A within 30 days of your arrival in the U.S. Failure to do so will result in termination of your F1 status.

You CANNOT travel outside the US while you are in your grace period (60 days after your program end date). Leaving the US while you are in your grace period will result in your losing your OPT eligibility.
