Ba'Ran Lewis

Class of 2023, Human Services Bachelor’s Degree

Ba'Ran Lewis

“Faculty here make you feel like you mean something, like, ‘We’re not going to give up on you, we’ll keep working this out.’"

Ba’Ran Lewis is a first-year student in the School of Undergraduate Studies who transferred from Northeastern University. Ba’Ran works with the homeless population in the healthcare field.

Asked why she transferred to CC, Ba’Ran explained, “At Northeastern, my program was always changing, and professors weren’t hands-on.” Her sister, who is currently getting her master’s degree here, recommended Cambridge College. After attending a transfer session at CC, Ba’Ran recounted, “I was scared and didn’t know if I’d adapt, but the transition was so smooth. Just talking to staff… the energy was so different and refreshing.”

Now a student at Cambridge College, Ba’Ran shared her academic experiences, “Faculty here make you feel like you mean something, like, ‘We’re not going to give up on you, we’ll keep working this out.’ They push me to get to that level. That’s a good feeling. And everything is so accessible here: there are tutors on site, Starfish to make appointments…support is always accessible.”

She contintued, “I also like all the students in my classes. We are all very supportive of one another. I’ve never had that before: people saying, 'We can do this, we all have the goal of getting a degree and living a better life.' The support here is definitely different than what I’m used to!”
